Marine Financing

Specialized financing guidance for qualifying boats, yachts, and other recreational vessels.

From weekends on the water to extended cruising

Marine financing built around the vessel and the buyer.

Boat and yacht transactions can involve valuation, survey, title, documentation, insurance, and closing requirements that differ significantly from ordinary vehicle financing. Blue Ridge helps coordinate those moving parts.

  • Powerboats, sailboats, and qualifying yachts
  • Center consoles, cruisers, pontoons, and fishing boats
  • Qualifying new and pre-owned vessels
  • Dealer, broker, and eligible private-party transactions
  • Documented and state-titled vessels, subject to program rules

A specialized transaction

Marine financing may require additional coordination.

01

Vessel review

Year, make, model, propulsion, condition, valuation, and intended use can affect eligibility.

02

Survey and documentation

Depending on the transaction, a marine survey, title review, Coast Guard documentation, insurance, or payoff information may be required.

03

Closing coordination

Dealer, broker, private seller, documentation agent, and lender requirements may all need to align before funding.

Common questions

Marine financing FAQ.

Is a survey always required?

Not always. Survey requirements vary according to vessel age, value, size, loan amount, transaction type, and participating lender.

Can you finance a boat purchased through a broker?

Brokered transactions may be eligible when the vessel, applicant, documentation, and closing structure satisfy participating-lender requirements.

Are liveaboard or commercial-use vessels eligible?

Intended use is important. Many recreational programs exclude commercial use, charter activity, or full-time liveaboard use. Eligibility must be reviewed for the specific transaction.

Can older boats qualify?

Some older vessels may qualify, but condition, valuation, survey results, maintenance history, and lender limits become increasingly important.
